The NASA Science Mission Directorate (SMD) sponsors independent peer reviews of its Earth and space science education products conducted by The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES.) The purpose of the review is twofold: 1) to ensure education products distributed by NASA are of high quality and meet rigorous standards and 2) to provide feedback to product developers.

The review is conducted on a quarterly basis, with re-submissions reviewed on a rolling basis. Ad hoc reviews are also organized if NASA has a requirement for time-sensitive submissions (e.g., a product needs to be reviewed in time for a conference or special event.)

This review is important for a product to be included in the NASA Wavelength Database.(http://nasawavelength.org/).
